Infrastructure the Good the Bad and the Ugly - And First The Good

The New York High Line and Hudson Yards

We may soon be inundated by many examples and proposals for new infrastructure. Infrastructure can be the anchor for new and beautiful real estate development projects which enhance and support our neighborhoods and communities. I focus at the start on some glorious recent projects that have revitalized and transformed entire urban environments.
There is the New York High Line and Hudson Yards development that involves recovery of land formerly used as railroad tracks. The High Line alone is calculated to have brought $5 billion in new development to areas bordering the walkway. The Hudson Yards New York website provides details. The High Line represents the future of major infrastructure development with a blend of private and public funding. Find more at DVFFF and The High Line.

The next post will feature the Pittsburgh Riverlife development more of the good - check it out at Riverlife.
